Making an escape plan is one of the most important fire prevention activities that you can do and its very easy. Draw a floor plan of your home using the Fire Escape Plan Grid from the NFPA available on our Downloads page.These are some general industry guidelines when drawing your plan1 Download and print the Fire Escape Plan Grid available on our Downloads page.2 Get everyone in your house together and map out all possible exits and escape routes.3 Make sure that there are two ways out of every room including windows and doors. If your house has two floors then escape ladders may be used with the proper training per manufacturers recommendations.4 Make sure escape routes are clear and free of debris and that windows and doors can be opened freely.5 Mark the location of every smoke detector in your house.6 Indentify an outside meeting area where everyone can meet after they have escaped.7 If there are infants or disabled persons in your house designate a person to assist them in their escape.8 Make sure everyone understands the plan even guests then PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
